The announcement comes as the US and Iran consider holding another round of talks before the ceasefire ends, following the collapse of negotiations in Pakistan.

According to a report by China’s state-run news agency Xinhua, Chinese President Xi Jinping has put forward a four-point proposal to promote peace in the Middle East.
This announcement comes at a time when the U.S. and Iran are deliberating on the possibility of another round of talks—prior to the expiration of the ceasefire—following the breakdown of negotiations in Pakistan.
According to the report, Xi presented this proposal on Tuesday during a meeting with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
What does the proposal entail?
The plan outlines a four-point proposal. First is the principle of peaceful coexistence among the nations of the Middle East and the Gulf region. He urged these nations to improve their relations to establish a sustainable security architecture for the Middle East and the Gulf.
Second, he called upon these nations to respect the principle of national sovereignty, emphasizing that it must not be violated. He underscored the necessity of respecting the security and territorial integrity of the countries in the Middle East and the Gulf.
Thirdly, he stated that to prevent the world from descending once again into a state of chaos, it is essential to firmly uphold the international system, with the UN at its core.
Finally, Xi remarked that all nations should strive to integrate development with security and that China would contribute its modernization efforts to bolster regional progress.
China Criticizes US Blockade of Iranian Ports
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, China accused the United States of “dangerous and irresponsible” behavior regarding its blockade of Iranian ports; Xi vowed that Beijing would play a “constructive role” in promoting peace in the Middle East.
Following the collapse of peace talks between Washington and Tehran over the weekend, US President Donald Trump has threatened to sink vessels entering or departing Iranian ports and the coastal areas of the Gulf.
Iran has effectively closed off the vital Strait of Hormuz, permitting passage only to vessels serving its allied nations—such as China.
Trump Threatens 50% Tariffs on China
On Sunday, Trump stated that if China provides military assistance to Tehran, he would impose a 50 percent tariff on Chinese goods.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun dismissed these reports as “completely fabricated.”
Guo asserted, “If the US insists on using this incident as a pretext to impose additional tariffs on China, China will undoubtedly take firm countermeasures.”
Trump is scheduled to visit Beijing next month for talks with Xi Jinping.
