Donald Trump warned that if Iran acquires nuclear weapons, it could devastate the entire Middle East

Trump emphasized that stopping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is crucial for global security, and he claimed that if Iran had such weapons, it would likely use them immediately.

US President Donald Trump, while defending recent US military actions against Iran on Monday, warned that Tehran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons and further claimed that the American military has significantly degraded the country’s military capabilities.

Trump stated that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is essential for global security, adding that if Iran were to possess such weapons, it would use them immediately.

“I want war no less than anyone else,” Trump said. “Iran’s leaders are violent and brutal people who have killed 32,000 protesters in the last three weeks.”

He continued, “If you believe that Iran should possess nuclear weapons, then something is wrong with you, because they would use them within an hour or a day. They would use them to blow up not just Israel, but the entire Middle East.”

The US President also asserted that American operations over the past two weeks have severely diminished Iran’s military strength.

“We have wiped them out in two weeks,” Trump said. “They have no navy, no air force, no anti-aircraft weaponry, and no leadership. Their leadership is gone. Then they established a new leadership, and that, too, is gone.”

According to Trump, the U.S. action was undertaken not only for American interests but also for global security.

He stated, “We acted for the entire world… We took out the worst country in 50 years—and perhaps, ideologically speaking, even longer than that—a country that wanted to blow up the world, a sick country.”
Trump further asserted that allowing Iran to develop nuclear weapons would have dire consequences.

He said, “If you give Iran nuclear weapons, at least a very large portion of the world will be blown up, and they will be used almost immediately.”

The U.S. president went on to claim that the American military has dismantled most of Iran’s missile and drone capabilities and has weakened its leadership structure.

Trump remarked, “We have taken out most of their missiles and drones… We have completely eliminated two layers of their leadership, and perhaps even a third layer.”

Trump also highlighted the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz—a critical conduit for global energy transit—noting that certain nations remain heavily dependent on this waterway for their energy supplies.

He stated, “We have just a small impediment… and they (Iran) have exploited it very effectively for years, but that is no longer working. However, I believe that if some of these nations—with whom we have maintained good relations for years—derive 90 to 95 percent of their energy from the Strait of Hormuz, then that is acceptable.”

These remarks come amidst escalating tensions following ongoing military operations in the Middle East, as well as growing concerns regarding regional security and energy supply routes.
