Iran Launches Fresh Strikes on U.S., Israeli Bases Hours After Ali Khamenei’s Death

Iran launched an assault on Dubai’s main airport—one of the busiest in the world—forcing it to suspend all operations after the clashes began.

Iran has launched massive missile and drone attacks on Israeli and US bases in the Middle East, just hours after vowing to avenge the death of its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

According to media reports, several loud explosions were heard in Dubai and Doha, the capital of Qatar, after Iran launched the new attacks.

The UAE and Qatar are US allies, and Iran’s attack is meant to send a message to its neighbors that siding with its enemy will have consequences.

Iran attacked Dubai Airport, one of the world’s busiest airports, which has been closed for operations since the fighting began.

Earlier, it had attacked Dubai’s famous Palm Island and the Burj Al Arab, a luxury hotel.

Following the stalling of nuclear talks and Iran’s claims of resuming nuclear activity, the US and Israel carried out joint airstrikes in Iran yesterday.

In this mission named Operation Epic Fury, many big cities of Iran, including the capital, Tehran, were targeted.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader since 1989, was killed in the attacks.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has vowed to punish the “murderers” of its Supreme Leader and promised that the response would be “the most dangerous attack in history” against the US and Israel.

In a statement posted on Telegram, the IRGC said, “The Iranian nation’s vengeful hand will not let go of the killers of the Imam of the Ummah to inflict severe, firm, and deplorable punishment on them.”

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, warning of “serious consequences” for global security. The European Union and Russia have also called for de-escalation.
