Zelensky says the U.S. frequently pressures Ukraine for concessions rather than Russia

“We sincerely hope that next week’s trilateral talks will be meaningful, productive, and beneficial for everyone involved. However, at times it seems that the parties are discussing entirely different issues,” Zelensky said in his address.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope on Saturday that US-brokered peace talks in Geneva next week would be serious and effective but expressed concern that Ukraine was being asked to make “too many” concessions.

“We really hope that the three-way meeting next week will be serious, substantive, and helpful for all of us, but frankly, sometimes it seems as if the two sides are talking about completely different things,” Zelenskyy said in a speech at the Munich Security Conference.

“The Americans often return to the topic of concessions, and often those concessions are discussed only in the context of Ukraine, not Russia.”
