Netanyahu set to meet Trump in the US on Monday to discuss ongoing talks related to Iran

Iranian and U.S. representatives engaged in indirect nuclear discussions in Muscat, Oman, on Friday, with both parties indicating that further rounds of talks are likely to take place soon.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Wednesday, where they will discuss talks with Iran, Netanyahu’s office said on Saturday.

Iranian and U.S. officials held indirect nuclear talks in the Omani capital, Muscat, on Friday. Both sides said they expected further talks soon.

A regional diplomat familiar with the talks, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity, said Iran insisted on its “right to enrich uranium” during the discussions with the U.S., and that Tehran’s missile capabilities were not raised during the talks.

Iranian officials have refused to discuss Iran’s missiles—which constitute one of the largest arsenals of such weapons in the Middle East—and have said that Tehran wants recognition of its right to enrich uranium.

“The prime minister believes that any agreement must include limitations on ballistic missiles and an end to support for the Iranian axis,” Netanyahu’s office said in a statement.
