Trump is set to hold the first meeting of the Gaza Peace Board on February 19

The proposed February 19 meeting is expected to bring together both global leaders who accepted Trump’s January invitation to join the board, along with members of Gaza’s executive committee.

President Donald Trump is planning to convene the first meeting of his Board of Peace this month in Washington to raise money for the reconstruction of Gaza.

Two Trump administration officials said Saturday that the meeting, scheduled for February 19, will include the two world leaders who accepted Trump’s invitation to join the board in January, as well as members of an executive committee for Gaza that will oversee aspects of the territory’s governance, security, and redevelopment.

According to the officials, it was not immediately clear how many leaders would accept the Republican president’s invitation. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the meeting had not yet been formally announced and details of its agenda were still being finalized.

One official said the administration expected “robust” participation.

A copy of the invitation sent to those invited late Friday, obtained by The Associated Press, states that the meeting will be held at the U.S. Institute of Peace, now known as the Donald J. Trump U.S. Institute of Peace, and is pending a legal battle with the non-profit think tank’s former leadership.

The administration seized control of the facility last year and fired nearly all of the institute’s staff.

Trump’s new board was initially envisioned as a mechanism focused on ending the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

But it is taking shape as part of his broader goal of addressing global crises and appears to be a new U.S. effort to bypass the United Nations, as Trump aims to reshape the post-World War II international order.

Several of America’s key allies in Europe and elsewhere have declined to participate, suspecting it may be an attempt to rival the Security Council.
