Mohammed Shami breaks silence on Australia ODI team’s neglect, know what’s the matter…

The captaincy dispute between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill has come to an end.Mohammed Shami has been missing from international cricket for quite some time now. The fast bowler last played in the 2025 Champions Trophy and has been out of the Indian cricket team since then due to some fitness issues.

Mohammed Shami, who played in the IPL and has been playing domestic cricket regularly for Bengal, has been ignored by the BCCI selectors. He was not considered for the ODI and T20I squads for India’s tour of Australia starting from October 19. Shami has now broken his silence on the issue.

“There have been a lot of rumours and memes. People want to know my opinion on not being selected for the Australia series. I will just say that it is not in my hands to make the selection; it is the job of the selection committee, the coach and the captain. If they feel that I should be there, they will select me, or if they feel that some more time is needed, it is in their hands. “I am ready and I am ready,” Shami said on his channel.

“My fitness is also good. I will try to do better because you need to stay motivated when you are away from the field. I played in the Duleep Trophy. I felt very comfortable, my rhythm was good and I bowled about 35 overs. There is no problem with my fitness.”

He also touched on the topic of replacing Rohit Sharma as ODI captain, with Shubman Gill as the new skipper.

“There are a lot of memes being made on this question. I think there should be no problem with it. This is the decision of the BCCI, the selectors and the coach. Shubman captained India in England, and he is also the captain of Gujarat Titans. So, he was given the responsibility of the BCCI and someone was given this responsibility. Gill for that, so we should accept it,” Mohammed Shami said.

“People should not question the captaincy. This is not in our hands. Today there is one captain, and tomorrow there will be someone else. This cycle will continue.”
