Israeli forces say a series of explosions has struck Tehran’s central areas
The latest assault occurred just hours after Iran pledged retaliation for Khamenei’s death and carried out strikes across several Gulf regions.

Multiple explosions were heard in Iran’s capital, Tehran, on Sunday as Israeli forces targeted the “terrorist regime.” The attack came a day after the US, in collaboration with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, attacked the site.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated, “The IDF is attacking targets of the Iranian terrorist regime in the heart of Tehran. The previous day, the Israeli Air Force launched a massive airstrike to gain an air advantage and gain access to Tehran.”
According to a report by the AP news agency, the explosions were heard in northern Tehran and appeared to have occurred in the area where the country’s police headquarters and Iranian state television are located.
A video showed a large plume of smoke billowing from a building.
This new attack comes just hours after Iran vowed to avenge Khamenei’s death and fired missiles into the Middle East—many of which hit Gulf countries like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Bahrain.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards posted on Telegram, “The most dangerous attacking operation in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Armed Forces could begin at any moment,” and said it would target “occupied areas and US terrorist bases” in the region.
They added that “the Iranian nation’s vengeance will not let go of the killers of the Imam of the Ummah to ensure a severe, firm, and deplorable punishment.”
Following the stalling of nuclear talks and Iran’s claims of resuming nuclear activity, the US and Israel carried out joint airstrikes in Iran yesterday.
The attacks, dubbed “Operation Epic Fury,” targeted several Iranian cities, including the capital, Tehran.
According to Iranian media, Khamenei’s daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter also died along with him.
Iranian media reports said Khamenei was assassinated in his compound, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu viewed a photo of his body.
