Iran Turns Down US Ceasefire Proposal, Presents 10-Point List of Demands
Tehran communicated its stance to Washington via Pakistan on Monday.

According to the state-run news agency IRNA, Iran has rejected a U.S. proposal for a ceasefire, sending instead a ten-point response that calls for a permanent end to the conflict.
IRNA stated, “In this response—outlined in ten points—Iran has declined the ceasefire and emphasized the necessity of bringing the fighting to a definitive conclusion.”
Tehran conveyed its position to Washington on Monday through Pakistan. IRNA reported that the response includes demands such as the resolution of all regional disputes, the establishment of a protocol to govern safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, the lifting of sanctions, and a commitment to reconstruction efforts.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington has reviewed the proposal for a 45-day ceasefire, describing it as a step forward, albeit an insufficient one.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, he said, “It is a significant proposal; it is a significant step. It is not enough, but it is a very significant step.” He added that intermediaries are continuing to facilitate negotiations.
He further remarked that he is displeased with the Iranian government and that they will have to pay a heavy price.
Speaking at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, Trump stated, “The first regime was eliminated; the second regime was eliminated as well. The third group of people we are now dealing with are not as radicalized, and we believe they are actually smarter.”
On Sunday, President Trump used his social media platform, Truth Social, to issue an ultimatum to Iran. He set a deadline of “Tuesday, 8:00 PM Eastern Time” for the country to open the Strait of Hormuz.
In another profanity-laden post, the president threatened to target Iran’s energy infrastructure if the waterway remained closed.
Trump wrote, “Tuesday will be both Power Plant Day and Bridge Day in Iran—simultaneously. Nothing like it. Open the damn strait, you lunatics, or you’ll be living in hell—just watch! Praise be to Allah.”
The president reiterated this warning on Monday. Trump has issued similar statements in the past, often extending the deadline even as mediators have spoken of potential progress toward ending the conflict on mutually agreed-upon terms.
