Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against Harvard University, demanding $1 billion in compensation
“We are now seeking one billion dollars in damages and want nothing further to do, in the future, with Harvard University,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday that his administration would be demanding $1 billion in damages from Harvard University. A New York Times report indicated that the university had received some concessions in negotiations for a settlement with the government.
Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, “We are demanding $1 billion in damages and want nothing to do with Harvard University in the future.”
Trump administration officials have accused Harvard and other universities of promoting so-called “woke” ideology, failing to adequately protect Jewish students during pro-Palestinian protests, filing frivolous lawsuits, and demanding excessive amounts of money.
Critics have described this as part of the administration’s pressure campaign against liberal universities.
Another Ivy League institution, Columbia University, agreed last summer to pay the Trump administration $200 million and pledged to comply with rules prohibiting the consideration of race in admissions or hiring.
However, the New York Times reported on Monday that Trump had dropped his administration’s demand for a $200 million payment from Harvard after lengthy negotiations.
Trump told reporters last September that negotiations with Harvard were close to reaching a $500 million settlement, which included the opening of a trade school.
Trump posted late Monday: “They wanted to implement a rigorous job training program, but it was rejected because it wasn’t comprehensive enough and, in our opinion, wouldn’t have been successful.”

He added, “This was simply a way for Harvard to avoid a massive cash settlement of over $500 million, which would have been much larger considering the serious and egregious illegalities they committed,” without specifying which laws Harvard had allegedly broken.
Another Ivy League institution, the University of Pennsylvania, also caved to Trump administration concerns last year, announcing that it would ban transgender women from participating in women’s sports.
