77th Republic Day 2026: PM Narendra Modi Extends Greetings
Delhi Police have tightened security for Republic Day, deploying over 30,000 personnel along with AI-based surveillance systems.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings on Republic Day in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
In his post, Mr. Modi wrote, “Wishing everyone a Happy Republic Day. May this occasion infuse new energy and enthusiasm into our collective resolve to build a developed India.”
India will showcase its developmental journey, cultural diversity, and military might at the 77th Republic Day celebrations on Monday (January 26, 2026), including newly formed units and mock-ups of key weapon systems deployed during Operation Sindoor.
European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will be the chief guests at the event in the national capital.
Security has been tightened along the India-Nepal border after the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) received specific intelligence about possible activities by ‘anti-national elements’ on Republic Day.
Commandant Ganga Singh Udawat of the SSB’s 42nd Battalion told PTI on Sunday (January 25, 2026) that specific information had been received that ‘anti-national elements’ might attempt to carry out subversive activities on January 26.
